KPMG SIGNS AS THE TITLE SPONSOR OF 3RD ANNUAL HSI BATTLE OF THE BRAINS

The annual academic competition for Hispanic scholars returns to Central Texas this fall

August 16, 2023–Today, the 2023 Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Battle of the Brains announced that KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, will again serve as the title sponsor of the competition. The HSI Battle of the Brains brings together the best and brightest Hispanic and Latinx students from across the country to compete for more than $100,000 in scholarships. The 2023 event will take place in Austin, TX during Hispanic Heritage Month and will run from Wednesday, September 20, 2023 through Sunday, September 24, 2023.

The HSI Battle of the Brains competition is designed to support the mission of HSIs by promoting talented business, accounting, and STEM students in an engaging and dynamic way. With the theme Nuestro Tiempo (Our Time), the 2023 event will once again offer students the opportunity to showcase their academic excellence and problem-solving skills, while connecting with industry leaders. Each team of five to eight scholars will have 24 hours to develop a solution to a business challenge and make their pitch live in front of a panel of judges.

“In line with our Accelerate 2025 commitment to attract, retain and support underrepresented talent, KPMG is continuously focused on bolstering a diverse talent pipeline, with HSI engagement being a key component of our strategy,” said Sandy Torchia, Vice Chair of Talent and Culture, KPMG U.S. “We’re honored to partner with HSI Battle of the Brains to promote equitable access to career development opportunities for this group of future leaders.”

“Our week-long, experiential recruiting event works to ensure our nation’s top Hispanic students are empowered and provided with equal access to amazing opportunities to enter the workforce,” says Gregory Gibson Jr., founder of HSI Battle of the Brains. “Through our partnership with KPMG, we’re able to further display their potential via a unique program tailored to their talents and needs, while also recognizing and celebrating their culture.”
